The Royal Canadian Mint has released a new 1 oz pure silver coin capturing the excitement of the roping competition at the 1919 Victory Stampede.
This coin marks the 100th anniversary of the 1919 Victory Stampede, which was held to commemorate the end of the First World War. The coin has gold plating that highlights select design elements on both sides of your coin.
The reverse of the new coin portrays the roping competition at the 1919 Victory Stampede. In the background, spectators could be seen filling the original grandstand in Calgary. In the foreground, a gold-plated cowboy holds the reins tightly with one hand while twirling the lariat overhead, as the horse races towards the target.
All the engraved details on the reverse are roped in by the gold-plated rim, which resembles the four-strand lariat used to rope livestock in 1919.
The obverse features an effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Susanna Blunt.
This coin is struck in 99.99 pure silver. It has a limited mintage of only 6,500.
