The life of the noble elves is closely linked to magic. They live in harmony with nature, which they value above all else, but they do not lack a flair for arts and crafts. They tend to be long-lived or even immortal, which affects their relationship with ordinary mortals. Some are arrogant, dominant and self-centred, others do not hesitate to share their wisdom and experience. They are tall and graceful in appearance, with long hair and pointed ears. Their senses are honed, especially their sight and hearing, and their agile bodies move quickly and silently. When hunting and fighting, they prefer bows, and few of the arrows they shoot miss their target... This is how people imagine the mythical elves, mainly because of J.R.R. Tolkien's epic novel The Lord of the Rings. The British writer, who is considered the father of fantasy literature, was inspired by Germanic legends - mainly by Norse mythology. Over the centuries, the characteristics of elves have changed a lot. Some people attributed human proportions and supernatural beauty to them, others considered them to be dwarves, gnomes or tiny fairies.
